Best-Friend.org is a bootstrapped nonprofit movement focused on solving animal shelter overcapacity. We are not currently accepting grants or donations. Sharing the movement is free and always will be. We simply ask you to help spread the word.
Partner disclosure. We do not accept donations. This site is funded in part by paid partnerships. When you sign up with or order from one of our partners — BillSaver, US Mobile, CrowdHealth and DASH Dog Food — a portion of what you spend comes back to us. It costs you nothing extra, you get their standard offer, and it is one of the ways this work is funded. A partnership never changes what we say about anyone, and we do not partner with a company whose product we would not use ourselves.
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Netflix, or any other platform mentioned. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. Results and timelines described reflect our goals and are not guarantees.
If you want to work on this. We recruit across more than one independent company and program, and Best-Friend.org is one of the places a role can end up. If you applied through one of our other sites, your application may be reviewed by the team here so we can consider you for the role that fits you best. It is not shared with anyone outside that group. Whichever company would engage you is named in the agreement you sign, and it may not be the one whose site you applied on. Nothing here makes those companies affiliates, subsidiaries, or guarantors of one another. Applying is never an offer, and it creates no employment relationship or promise of pay.
Why we measure anything at all. We use several third-party analytics tools to understand how this site is used and to optimize its shareability, so that awareness of this movement spreads as effectively as possible. We do it scientifically, because the faster we get this right the more lives are saved — which is the fundamental reason we exist. Every interaction you have here helps us optimize toward that, and we are grateful for your time and attention regardless.
In practical terms that means the usual measurements — pages viewed, what gets shared, what gets clicked, how fast pages load, and how far people read before they leave. If you would rather not be counted, you do not have to be, and you never have to explain why. Use the switch below to stop it on this device, or email us and we will delete anything already tied to you.
To join those measurements together your browser generates a random session id. It is not your name or your email, it is not shared with other sites, we make no attempt to recognise you on a later visit, and it is deleted when you close the tab. If you use the local search we store only the first three digits of a ZIP code — never the full ZIP, and never a place name you type. Our admin and dashboard pages are excluded from all of it.
Your browser also keeps a random spark ID on this device, with no name or contact details, which our own /api/spark uses only to count how far shares travel and to show you your own spark; the switch below turns it off too.
Turning it off. Checking this device’s setting… This stops every measurement on this device — the third-party tools are not loaded, and nothing is sent. Your choice is stored in this browser, so it holds until you clear this site’s data, and it is exactly as easy to reverse as it was to make. The site works the same either way — nothing here is paywalled behind being measured.
If you send us something. Our forms ask for a name and an email — the local-leader form also asks for a phone number, the area you would organize, and why you want to. What you type is stored in our own database and shared with the service providers we use to run follow-up and send email, and our own team gets an instant alert containing it, because a person, not a pipeline, answers you. We do not sell it and we do not pass it to anyone else. Ask us and it is deleted. Opting out of analytics does not delete anything you chose to send us — for that, email us and say so.
If you applied for a role, the privacy practices of the site you applied on govern that application, including your right to have it deleted. Ask us and it is gone.
