🐾Best Friend

We measure what works. Analytics tell us how to make this spread further and get more dogs home, faster. Thank you for being part of that. What we collect

Useful help begins with honest information.

What a listing means.
And what it doesn’t.

We gather public information to make the next step easier for pet parents. You should be able to see where it came from, who it’s for, and what you still need to confirm.

We start with the organization’s own information.

Each listing links to an official source and shows when its published information was checked. We describe its purpose, location, eligibility, cost, access process, and known limits. ā€œSource checkedā€ means we reviewed public website information. It is not a background check, accreditation, endorsement, or confirmation of current capacity.

ā€œPartner listedā€ identifies a commercial listing using an existing partner relationship. It is not a claim that we independently tested the product or verified every marketing claim.

Coverage comes before convenience.

This is a United States guide with additional local detail for Washington and Oregon. It is a selected starting point, not an exhaustive directory. Selecting a state includes national and online programs as well as local listings for that state. A local listing may serve only a city, county, or defined group; read its coverage and eligibility.

Published information can change.

Programs may pause intake, exhaust funds, change hours, or limit assistance. Every listing has a review due date in our records. If that date passes, the guide marks the listing ā€œReview overdue.ā€ Confirm details directly before applying, paying, or traveling. We do not promise real-time availability or guaranteed assistance.

New discoveries are candidates for review. They do not become public listings automatically. Source changes need a review decision before being published.

Paid partners have their own place.

Paid partner offers appear separately from assistance programs and are labeled on every card. Best Friend may earn a commission if you use those links. The offers are commercial purchases, not grants or donated services. You never need to buy anything to browse or use this guide.

We do not use a paid relationship to put an offer above nonprofit help. A listing is not a promise of health benefits, lifespan improvements, savings, insurance coverage, or suitability for your animal.

We don’t take custody or make private matches.

Best Friend does not collect pet-parent intake forms through this guide, evaluate adopters, arrange foster placements, manage transport, or transfer animals. Responsible rehoming links point to established organizations and services with their own processes. Ask those organizations directly about screening, safety, fees, and follow-up.

Saved on your device. Shareable by choice.

Bookmarks are stored in this browser, on this device. They are not an account, a cloud backup, or a case record. Clearing browser storage removes them. Share links contain your selected filters and search terms; keep searches general and leave out personal information. The site’s normal analytics and privacy settings still apply.

The installed guide needs an internet connection for current listings and outside links. If you lose connection, a small offline page offers general next steps. We do not save resource listings, submitted information, or private pages for offline use.

Help us correct a listing.

If a source is broken or information appears wrong, email team@best-friend.org with the organization name and a public source link. Please don’t send medical records, identifying details about vulnerable people, or private information about an animal’s placement. This is not an emergency or assistance intake address.
